Juan Pablo Garcia will make his Firestone Indy Lights debut with HVM Racing at this weekend's Carneros 100 at Infineon Raceway.

The Mexican will drive the #8 car for the team, which acquired the assets of Michael Crawford Motorsports following the 2008 season but has waited to make its Lights series debut.

"When we formed this Firestone Indy Lights team in the fall of 2008, we hoped to run four cars between the IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights - we'll have three of the four this weekend at Sonoma," said Crawford, who remained on board as general manager of HVM's Lights programme.

"Hopefully, 2010 will be what Keith [Wiggins] and I thought 2009 would be. We're already preparing for 2010 season, and this is part of the plan. We're excited to get to race."

Garcia, who has driven in A1GP for A1 Team Mexico, has competed in British F3's National Class, and various Formula Renault series in Europe and South America.

"It hasn't been fun watching from the sideline, but it hasn't been a bad year to sit back and watch," Crawford concluded, "It's a good chance for us to work with a driver of Juan Pablo's experience and for him to see what HVM Racing is like and what Firestone Indy Lights is like as he weighs his options for the future."
