Fisher to raise cancer awareness at Homestead finale

IndyCar Series team owner/driver Sarah Fisher has revealed that she will be 'going pink' for the 2009 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, after linking up with a cancer charity.

Teaming up with Susan G Komen for the Cure to help kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Fisher's regular #67 Dollar General car will change hue for the Firestone Indy 300.

"We really wanted to partner with Komen to raise funds for breast cancer research and community outreach programmes," Fisher revealed, "We're so lucky to have a sponsor like Dollar General that supports our community outreach efforts and, together, we can broaden our support of Komen for the Cure and further the fight against breast cancer."

The 28-year old, the only female owner/driver in the IndyCar Series after forming her own team in 2008, is hoping to attract attention to this disease that affects about one-in-eight women in the United States alone.

"Breast cancer is a growing global problem that, without a cure, will kill more than ten million women in the next 25 years," Fisher said, "SFR is committed to helping Komen decrease those numbers. I've lost a loved one to breast cancer, and I will do everything I can to help others in their battle."

Fisher will also roll out her new Dallara chassis, which she took ownership of last week thanks to sponsor Hartman Oil, at the Firestone Indy 300, which will be her sixth race of the season.
