Wilson eyeing top eight finish at Motegi

Dale Coyne Racing star Justin Wilson is aiming for a strong finish to his 2009 IndyCar Series campaign heading into this weekend's penultimate outing at the Twin Ring Motegi in Japan.

The former Champ Car contingent missed last year's event while racing at Long Beach, so it will be their first taste of the unusually-configured one-and-a-half mile oval. Although the long-established IndyCar Series teams start with a clear advantage, Wilson is hopeful of another good performance for the #18 Z-Line Designs operation.

“I'm looking forward to this weekend,” enthused the British ace. “I've raced in Japan before and the fans are amazing, so I'm sure there will be a great atmosphere. Turns one and two are wider than turns three and four, so it's not going to be an easy track to master, but hopefully we can get the car dialled-in quickly.

“As a team we've made a lot of progress with our oval set-up. Chicagoland gave us a real confidence boost, and our aim this weekend is to finish in the top eight.”

Wilson currently sits tenth in the drivers' standings, with a victory to his name at Watkins Glen back in early July.
