Dreyer & Reinbold Racing has revealed plans to field a third car in this year's Indianapolis 500, with IndyCar Series veteran Tomas Scheckter at the wheel of the #23 Dallara-Honda.

Scheckter contested ten races for the team, after racing for Dale Coyne in the 500, in 2009, earning three top ten finishes, and returns for a ninth crack at winning at the Brickyard. The South African started on the fourth row for his first seven Indy 500s, only breaking the streak when he gridded 26th last season. Despite that, he still finished twelfth in the blue riband event, albeit a long way from equalling his best result of fourth, achieved with Ganassi Racing in 2003.

"We are excited to have Tomas join our team for the Indy 500," Dreyer & Reinbold Racing co-owner Dennis Reinbold commented, "He did a great job for us last year and we are extremely happy that we were able to work something out with him for this event."

Scheckter will join British team-mates Justin Wilson and Mike Conway for the fabled Indianapolis event, with sponsors for the #23 entry to be revealed later this week.

"I'm really happy to be back with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and to be working with Larry Curry again," the South African admitted, "I feel at home.

"We had a great Indy test at the end of last year, and I feel that we can carry the momentum that the team has built on the road/street courses with Mike and Justin on to the ovals. Also, having had Justin as my team-mate [at Dale Coyne] last year at Indy, where we worked very well together, will be a good thing. Dennis and Robbie have been very supportive of getting this done and feel like we have a chance to do great things this year at the Speedway."
