Dale Coyne snaps up Mike Conway for remaining double-headers

After his dazzling success for the team in last month's double-header in Detroit, Mike Conway has been confirmed with Dale Coyne Racing for Toronto and Houston.
Britain's Mike Conway had a fairytale return to IZOD IndyCar Series competition last month when he won the first race of the Detroit Belle Isle double-header weekend for Dale Coyne Racing.

He also captured pole position for the second race the following day, in which he went on to clinch another podium position for the team.

And now the team has confirmed that it wants Conway back with them in the cockpit of the #18 Sonny's BBQ car for the remaining two double-header events of 2013, in Toronto next weekend and then in Houston in October. He will once again be paired with compatriot Justin Wilson for both weekends.

"I am very happy to back in an IndyCar and with Dale Coyne Racing," said Conway on Monday. "Hopefully we will pick up from where we left off in Detroit.

"Toronto is one of my favourite circuits so there is no reason why we can't do well there," he continued. "Houston will be new to a lot of people, however Dale Coyne and my team mate Justin raced there in ChampCar so I am hoping to get some good feedback from them

"They should both be really good weekends and I want to thank Dale for giving me another chance to be a part of it,' he added.

Next Saturday's race in Toronto will be Conway's 57th IndyCar start, over the course of which he has gone on to claim 15 top ten finishes, five top-fives and two wins including Detroit.

He also claimed victory in 2011 at Long Beach with Andretti Autosport, and made a return appearance there in April this year with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing although an electrical problem forced him to retire before mid-distance.

Conway raced full time in the IZOD IndyCar Series with AJ Foyt Racing in 2012, until he decided that he no longer felt comfortable racing on oval circuits any more. He suffered serious spinal injures in a last-lap crash with Ryan Hunter-Reay in the 2010 Indianapolis 500 that sidelined him for the rest of the year, and in 2011 he was right in the middle of a 15-car accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that claimed the life of fellow Briton Dan Wheldon.
