Wilson released from hospital

Justin Wilson has been allowed to return home following his crash in the season-ending MAVTV 500.
Justin Wilson has been released from Arrowhead Regional Medical Centre in California following the accident which ended his 2013 IndyCar campaign on lap 111 of the season finale.

The Dale Coyne Racing driver spun after becoming unsettled running over one of the seams on the surface of the track at turn two of the California Speedway in Fontana and, even as he tried to save the moment, ended up being hit on the front right side of the car by Tristan Vautier, who had no way of avoiding the #19 machine.

Wilson complained of lower back pain at the scene of the accident and was carefully removed from the wreck, before being placed on a stretcher and transported by ground ambulance to the nearby Arrowhead facility for further observation.

He was subsequently diagnosed with non-operable pelvic fractures and a small pulmonary contusion, but doctors are now sufficiently pleased with his progress to all him to return to his home in Colorado.
