Season summary:

It was not the sort of year that the four-time champion and three-time Indy 500 winner would have wanted: the season started slowly when the Honda contingent as a whole struggled to match the raw power and reliability of the Chevys, and - unlike his team mate Scott Dixon - Dario's season never subsequently caught fire thereafter, consigning him to act as Dixon's wingman from early on. He still went on to claim 11 top ten finishes in the 18 races in which he participated, but then came that horrible smash at Houston in which his car was launched into the catch fence, leaving him with back and ankle injuries that not only sidelined him for the remainder of the season, but have now forced him to announce his retirement from competitive racing. It's a great shame to see him forced to step away but it's been a life well raced and we look forward to seeing what he gets up to in the next phase of his career - expect to see him in the paddock playing some sort of major role with the team in 2014.
