Season summary:

How to top 2012, when he clinched the rookie of the year title with such flying colours? For Simon Pagenaud, there was one obvious thing he needed to do and that was to claim his first race win in his second season with Schmidt-Hamilton Motorsport. It duly happened in the second road race of the Detroit double-header, and he liked the experience so much that he repeated it again later in the season by successfully holding Josef Newgarden at bay to the chequered flag at Baltimore. The net result of this and his overall consistency (an impressive 13 top tens from 19 races) put Pagenaud into third place in the final standings behind Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves. Next up for the Frenchman: a serious championship run in 2014, surely?
