Wilson, Allmendinger to run Daytona?

It appears that RuSPORT team-mates Justin Wilson and AJ Allmendinger may be poised to join the list of Champ Car and Indy Racing League runners contesting the Daytona 24 Hours next year.

The pair, who finished 1-2 at the final Champ Car World Series round of 2005 in Mexico City, where Champ Car partnered the Grand-Am Rolex Series at the top of the bill, are due to appear at a media conference with Rolex Series team owner Michael Shank later today [Tuesday], sparking speculation that they may team up in one of MSR's Daytona Prototypes at the biggest race in the American sportscar season.

Should the deal be confirmed, Wilson and Allmendinger would join the likes of Dario Franchitti, Sebastien Bourdais, Darren Manning, Scott Dixon, Ryan Briscoe, Bryan Herta, Dan Wheldon and a host of NASCAR names to have run the Rolex 24 in recent seasons.
