Mishael Abbott has continued to test the Michael Crawford Motorsports car in an attempt to extend the single Indy Pro Series race deal she has already signed to a full season.
Currently unable to compete due to sponsorship issues, Abbott, put the car through its paces at the Homestead Miami Speedway ahead of the season opener at the same venue, attempting both the road course and oval and managing a total of 122 laps over two days.
Indeed, she was delighted to be back competing, even if she was not delighted with her times. "I am not overjoyed with my times today but I am very happy to be back in a Pro Series car for the first time since last June," said Abbott.
"I was sitting in the drivers meeting this morning and was thinking, I just can't wait to get out there on this oval. I ran three straight laps with the series champion on my outside. I love this! This is what I want to do."
Team boss Michael Crawford was also content with Abbott's progress. "It is a genuine pleasure having Mishael in the car this weekend," he said. "We accomplished our goals on Saturday and hit every mark on Monday. I think we're both looking forward to a very successful race weekend at Homestead and Monday was a super start."
