Fisher returns with Dreyer & Reinbold

Sarah Fisher will return to the IRL IndyCar Series for the first time in more than two years after signing for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing for this weekend's Meijer Indy 300 at the Kentucky Speedway.

Fisher, who hasn't started an IRL race since the 2004 Indianapolis 500, sat on the pole for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the 2002 race at Kentucky.

The cash-strapped D&R team have used Ryan Briscoe and Buddy Lazier in the last two races and will be hoping that the added publicity gained by having Fisher back behind the wheel of the #5 Dallara-Honda will lead to some much needed additional funding.

Sunday's race at the 1.5-mile Kentucky oval will also mark the first time since the 2000 Indy 500 that two women have started an IRL IndyCar Series race when Fisher and Lyn St James both competed.
