Leilani Münter will make her Indy Pro Series debut at the Kentucky Speedway on 11 August, driving the #57 SMART Papers/Lucas Oil car for Sam Schmidt Motorsports.
Münter, who passed her rookie test at Kentucky in May, will also compete in the season finale at Chicagoland Speedway on 9 September after confirming her switch from stockcars to the Indycar feeder series.
"Racing in the Indy Pro Series is a big step in my career," Münter, who began racing stock cars in 2001, admitted, "I am deeply appreciative to Sam Schmidt for giving me the chance to drive for a championship team and to SMART Papers for becoming my primary sponsor in the series."
Münter joins series points leader Alex Lloyd and promising rookies Logan Gomez and Ryan Justice in the Schmidt stable, and the veteran team boss reckons she should have no problem fitting in.
"We are very pleased to add Leilani to our team for the Kentucky and Chicagoland events," he said, "She has honed her skills and gained sufficient confidence to be competitive in the Indy Pro Series immediately, and I believe Alex, Ryan and Logan will be excellent team-mates due to their success and experience so far this year."
