Having set the pace during testing on the road course on Wednesday, Dillon Battistini continued to be the man to beat on Friday as Indy Lights running as Homestead switched to the oval layout.

Battistini continued with the kind of form that saw him win on four occasions in 2008 as he set the fastest lap time on his second day of running with the Sam Schmidt Motorsport team.

Battistini will now continue to evaluate his options for 2009 although he said he was pleased to have had the chance to work with the Sam Schmidt outfit.

"I am very impressed with Sam Schmidt Motorsport," he said. "I certainly enjoyed working with Tim on the engineering side.

"We tried a number of things on the chassis to dial the car to suit the conditions. We did not even try new tyres at the end of the day like everyone else and still ended up quickest, so that tell you something doesn't it. I would like to thank Sam and the whole team for their hard work and professional approach."
