Firestone Twin 275s - Race result (1)

Dario Franchitti quickly took the lead of the first race of the Firestone Twin 275 double header event, and refused to be dislodged despite a strong late challenge from team mate Scott Dixon.
A fast first race of the double-header Firestone Twin 275k at Texas Motor Speedway saw only one caution period, and effectively only one leader from start to finish once Dario Franchitti swiftly ejected Alex Tagliani from the front spot.

After a caution caused by a collision between Charlie Kimball and Wade Cunningham right in front of Franchitti, the final 10-lap shootout was much closer but Franchitti kept control of the inside line and made it across the line some five-hundredths of a second ahead of Dixon, making this the 23rd closest finish in IndyCar history.
