Iowa - Race results

Marco Andretti won a thrilling Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway, out-thinking and out-driving veteran Tony Kanaan to take his first IndyCar Series win in five years.
A dramatic, eventful and thrilling Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway looked to be heading Dario Franchitti's way after he led 172 of the 225 laps of the 0.894 mile oval.

But Marco Andretti unexpectedly took the lead for a few laps just ahead of the final round of pit stops, and when Dario's form faded in the last part of the race it was Tony Kanaan who carried the fight for the win to Marco, only to be out-fought and even out-thought by the young American who sensationally claimed his first win in 78 races, which makes it only his second in the IndyCar Series.

A number of drivers ended up in the wall as the notorious bumps of Iowa claimed James Jakes, Ana Beatriz, Sebastian Saavedra and Takuma Sato, as well as Will Power - the championship co-leader coming into this weekend, who was diagnosed with a mild concussion after his own exit from the race on lap 89.
