Penske's Will Power put the disappointments of two consecutive DNFs behind him to get back to the top of the podium at Edmonton, biding his time and staying out of trouble by avoiding rash temptation initially before choosing the perfect moment to strike and depose Takuma Sato.

Power's team mate Helio Castroneves claimed second, the perfect riposte to memories of his controversial finish to last year's Edmonton Indy where Castroneves lost the win after being penalised for blocking.

Dario Franchitti recovered to third after nearly getting caught out and held up in a clash between EJ Viso and Scott Dixon that wrecked his team mate's chances of a good finish.
