IndyCar » Alabama - Starting grid

Helio Castroneves and James Hinchcliffe line up on the front row for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park ahead of Scott Dixon and Mike Conway.
Chevrolet cars once again came out on top in qualifying for Sunday's Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park, but it wasn't quite the whitewash that had been seen in St Petersburg a week ago.

Penske's Helio Castroneves and Andretti Autosport's James Hinchcliffe made it an all-Chevy front row, but that was balanced by an all-Honda second row with Mike Conway excelling for AJ Foyt Racing finishing just behind Ganassi's Scott Dixon.

An eventful qualifying session saw a shock early elimination for Dario Franchitti and for Rubens Barrichello who was struggling with a lack of track time, while Will Power got caught out by a red flag triggered by Ryan Hunter-Rear in round 2. One of Power's Penske team mates Ryan Briscoe also fell in round 2 because of technical problems.
