Alabama - Race results

1 April 2012

Will Power emerged from Barber Motorsports Park with his first win of the season, despite admitting that he'd thought it a tall order to win the race after a frustrating qualifying session left him starting from ninth place on the grid.

In a hugely entertaining Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama that featured overtaking throughout the field for the entire race on the 2.38-mile, 17-turn road course, Power ended up finishing 3.3709s ahead of Ganassi's Scott Dixon. The duo had pulled out a massive lead during the 16 laps since the final restart of the race over the chasing pack consisting of Helio Castroneves, Graham Rahal and Simon Pagenaud.

Rubens Barrichello delivered an excellent eighth place in only his second IZOD IndyCar Series race just ahead of a superb run from Sebastien Bourdais in the Lotus Dragon, with Dario Franchitti scraping a place in the top ten after a deeply disappointing weekend.
