IndyCar » Sao Paulo - Saturday practice 1

A last minute flier from Will Power reclaimed the top spot for Penske ahead of the Ganassi duo of Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon on the drying streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Track action for the Sao Paulo Indy 300 got away early on Saturday morning in Brazil, with an hour-long practice session on a drying track after rain on Friday.

Ganassi's Dario Franchitti thought he might have stolen the session with a late lap of 1:22.3953s to put him ahead of long time leaders Will Power and Scott Dixon, but a final push by Power took the top spot by a slender 0.0078s even though it appeared that Honda's turbocharger updates had put them back on an even footing with the previously dominant Chevrolets. That was backed up by Simon Pagenaud and Josef Newgarden pushing their way into the top five ahead of Helio Castroneves and Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Dale Coyne Racing's Justin Wilson led the first half hour of the session reserved for rookies and those outside the championship top ten, but he was eventually outshone by his less experienced team mate James Jakes who claimed a very creditable tenth place by the time the chequered flag came out.
