Detroit Belle Isle: Race results

4 June 2012

There was no touching Scott Dixon in the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, as he led the entire race from pole position to an emphatic chequered flag victory.

Will Power had looked set to lay claim to second place but lost out in two late race restarts, first to Simon Pagenaud and then to Dario Franchitti, to finish in fourth place. Franchitti also got the better of Pagenaud at the penultimate restart to make it an unlikely Ganassi one-two behind Dixon.

The race saw a two hour red flag after the track surface started to break up midway through the race, forcing track officials to apply new concrete patches to the affected areas and for the race to be shortened from 90 to 60 laps in total.
