Milwaukee: Practice 1 times

Josef Newgarden topped the timesheets at the end of the hour-long first practice session at the Milwakuee Mile ahead of this weekend's Milwaukee IndyFest.
Sarah Hartman Ficher Racing's Josef Newgarden went top of the Friday morning practice session in Milwaukee with a lap of 22.0232s (165.916mph), less than a tenth of a second faster than Penske's Helio Castroneves. Under a second covered the top 21 of the 25-car field.

There were no incidents or cautions during the one-hour session, which was split into two 30-minute periods, with the rookies and those outside the top ten in the championship cars allowed out in the first half hour and the remainder joining them for the second.

A second hour-long practice follows after lunch, with the qualifying session itself taking place later in the day.
