Mid-Ohio: Practice 1 times

Will Power topped the sole Friday practice session at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with a lap of 1:06.8632, while Scott Dixon, Marco Andretti and Simon Pagenaud also laid down early markers.
Will Power was quick to take charge of the timesheets from Takuma Sato once the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course opened to all drivers, and he went on to set the best time of anyone with a lap of 1:06.8632s on a track left slippery from rubber laid down by support races.

Scott Dixon put in the second quickest time as the chequered flag came out, 0.1581s behind Power, while Marco Andretti, Simon Pagenaud, Graham Rahal and James Jakes were also quickly on the pace.

The session saw three red flags: the first two to recover cars after spins by Alex Tagliani and James Hinchcliffe mid-session cost the drivers some 14 minutes track time in the 90 minute session, while a late session stoppage for Simona de Silvestro was

That was the only practice session for Friday, with the series having to work around track time for the American Le Mans Series. A one-hour morning practice on Saturday will precede the qualifying session that starts at 11am local time (4pm BST).
