IndyCar » Baltimore: Race results

Ryan Hunter-Reay won a controversial victory in a turbulent IZOD IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Baltimore, to close the gap on championship leader Will Power going into the final race.
Ryan-Hunter-Reay took the lead of the IZOD IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Baltimore from Ryan Briscoe at the penultimate restart of a race hit by multiple cautions and a period of light rain that scrambled all hope of getting coherent race strategies from the teams.

The Penske team protested Hunter-Reay's move on Briscoe but race director Beaux Barfield upheld its legality, and Hunter-Reay then survived a final restart forced after a multi-car incident at turn 4 partially blocked the track with six laps remaining to claim the chequered flag.

Will Power lost a further position to Rubens Barrichello in the final laps and had to settle for sixth place, which means his lead in the championship is down to 17pts over Hunter-Reay going into the final event at Fontana in two weeks time - a long-distance oval event which potentially works in Hunter-Reays favour.

Full face report to follow.
