St Petersburg - Practice 1 times

Ryan Hunter-Reay and James Hinchcliffe staged an Andretti Autosports 1-2 in the first IZOD IndyCar Series practice session of 2013 on the streets of St Petersburg.
Reigning champion Ryan Hunter-Reay topped the first practice session of the 2013 IZOD IndyCar series season after posting a lap of 1:02.4543s on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit in St Petersburg, Florida.

His Andretti Autosport team mate James Hinchcliffe took second spot a mere one thousandths of a second behind Hunter-Reay, while Penske's Will Power just managed to stop EJ Viso making it an Andretti top three.

The top five drivers in were separated by 0.1580s and the top 22 of the 25 drivers were within a second of Hunter-Reay's benchmark. There were no major incidents in the 45-minute session, although Scott Dixon (Ganassi) and Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) both ended up taking to the turn 10 run-off during the first of the day's two practices.
