2013 Indy 500: Practice 7 times

Times escalated dramatically on Fast Friday as teams knuckled down to their last pre-qualifying practice, but storms brought a premature halt to proceedings halfway through.

Fast Friday at Indianapolis was dominated early on by a spiralling increase in speeds to nearly 230mph thanks to fresh engines, the extra horsepower boost that all the teams receive for the next three days, and of course a focus on qualifying laps ahead of Pole Day on Saturday and Bump Day on Sunday.

However, once EJ Viso went top of the timesheets with a new best time of the week of 229.537s (39.2093s) on the 2.5-mile speedway, the yellow flags came out for moisture heralding a dramatic electrical storm and full downpour that halted proceedings almost exactly halfway through the six hour session and left no chance of the track being dried in time to resume running.
