Milwaukee IndyFest (West Allis, Wisconsin): Practice 1 times

Marco Andretti was the fastest driver in first practice at the Milwaukee Mile for this weekend's IZOD IndyCar Series event.
Marco Andretti took the top spot on the timesheets in first practice for this Saturday's Milwaukee IndyFest late afternoon race at the Milwaukee Mile.

Andretti's best lap time for the first session was 21.9217s (166.684mph) and was 0.0183s ahead of his Andretti Autosport team mate Ryan Hunter-Reay, the defending race champion. The pair were the only drivers to dip under the 22-second mark, although third-placed Josef Newgarden missed out by only six thousandths of a second in the Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing #67.

There was a brief interruption when the third Andretti Autosport driver, James Hinchcliffe, made light contact with the SAFER barrier in turn one 36 minutes into the one hour session. The #27 GoDaddy.com car made it back to pit lane under its own power after the incident but ended up running only 17 laps in the session.

Just behind Hinchcliffe on the time sheets was Ana Beatriz, back in the #18 car for Dale Coyne Racing after having seen Mike Conway take the seat to winning effect in Detroit and then last weekend Pippa Mann being sidelined just two laps into the Firestone 550 at Texas with mechanical problems.

Also returning this weekend is Ryan Briscoe, who assumes control of the #4 Panther Racing car from Oriol Servia as the Australian doesn't have any Le Mans 24 Hours commitments this weekend.
