Sonoma: Sunday warm-up times

In the final track opportunity before the start of the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma on Sunday afternoon, Scott Dixon claimed the honours for Ganassi ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay.
Ganassi continued to set the pace in the final practice session at Sonoma Raceway before the green flag comes out for the start of the 85-lap GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma on Sunday afternoon.

Instead of pole winner Dario Franchitti (who ended the session fifth fastest) it was his team mate and fellow front row man Scott Dixon who topped the final half-hour practice of the weekend with a time of 1:18.9674s (108.728mph)

That putt the Kiwi almost half a second faster than Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay, was was in turn a similar margin ahead of his team mate Marco Andretti and KV Racing Technology's Tony Kanaan.

There were no significant incidents or stoppages during the warm-up. However, only 24 cars participated in the session, as the Dale Coyne Racing team was forced to spend the time changing out the engine in the #18 car.

Not only did that deprive James Davison some valuable time in the car ahead of only his second IZOD IndyCar Series race outing, the unapproved engine change also means a ten-place grid drop for the start of the race. As a result, Davison will give up his 21st place on the grid and will now start from the back row.
