Baltimore: Sunday warm-up times

Sebastien Bourdais rebounded from his accident-hit qualifying session to post the fastest time in the Sunday morning warm-up session in downtown Baltimore ahead of this afternoon's race.
After crashing out at the notorious turn 9 chicane in the first round of qualifying on Saturday, Sebastien Bourdais proved that he was up for the challenge of fighting his way up from the penultimate row of the grid by claiming the honours in the half hour Sunday morning warm-up practice session on behalf of Dragon Racing.

Bourdais posted a time of 1:18.4535s (93.610mph) on the 2.04-mile, 12-turn downtown street course in the last track time the 24 drivers get before Sunday afternoon's 75-lap Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT which gets underway at 2.30pm local time (7.30pm BST).

That put him three tenths of a second ahead of Penske's Will Power, with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing's Josef Newgarden continuing to enjoy an impressive weekend ahead of James Jakes n the #16 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing car.

Jakes qualified in 13th place on Saturday, but will start from 23rd place on the grid after taking an unapproved engine change. Also demoted ten spots on the grid is Ganassi's Dario Franchitti who overnight fitted a sixth Honda engine into the #10 car, which automatically incurs a penalty as he's exceeded the permitted allocation of five units for the season. However it appeared that the new engine also failed on him after just 5 laps of track time and that a seventh unit might be on the cards before the start of the race.

The Sunday morning session ran trouble-free, leaving the other teams without any late repair work to do before the start of today's race.
