Euro Qualifier KF2 & KF3 -Central Region

More than 120 drivers battle for less than 60 places in the European Championships in the central region qualifier at Wackersdorf in Germany.
The central region qualifier for the 2010 CIK-FIA European KF2 and KF3 Championship was held at the Wackersdorf circuit in Germany with 59 KF3 drivers and 64 KF2 drivers on hand to try and qualify for the finals at the Belgian venue of Genk.

In timed qualifying for the KF3 runners Austrian driver Lucas Auer set the pace from Italian Michele Beccaria and local driver Dennis Marschall and on a weekend blighted by rain Auer looked unstoppable in the heats, winning all four of his races to comfortably lead the field at the intermediate standings.

Other heat wins went to Italian quartet Alice Brasseur, Riccardo Vullo, Mattia Vita and Kevin Lavelli and German driver Marek Bockmann with Beccaria and Marschall managing best finishes of third and sixth respectively.

Auer's unbeaten streak came to an end in the first final when he could only finish fifth with the win being taken by Damiano Fioravanti from Auer's countryman David Detmers. Auer bounced back in final two however to make it five wins from six races over the weekend but a third place finish from Fioravanti was enough to give him the overall win from Auer and Italian driver 'Speedy,' who claimed a second and a third.

Detmers, who finished fourth in the second final claimed fourth overall with Beccaria, Lavelli and Bockmann sixth, seventh and eighth. Vita, Vullo and Brassuer safely made it into the top 30 overall but Marschall was amongst those to miss out.

Marvin Kirchofer (Germany) led Jose Antonio Olmedo (Italy) and Manuel Valier (Germany) in KF2 qualifying and Kirchofer went on to win three of his four heats aboard his DP Racing Gillard chassis. However a seventh place finish in his other heat coupled with a brace of wins apiece for Italian Ignazio D'Agosto and Polish star Karol Basz meant Kirchofer was only placed third in the intermediate classification. Michael Sedlmeyr and Jason Kremer also took heat wins.

Kirchofer's countryman Patrick Kappis took victory in the first final from fourth on the grid with Kirchofer, Riccardo Negro and Niklas Brinkmann completing an all German top four but Kirchofer struck back in final two, not only taking the win but claiming first place overall as Kappis slipped back to fourth behind Negro and Italian Stefano Cucco.

Kappis still gained enough points in the two finals to be classified second overall with Negro completing an all German podium.

At the other end of the scale neither Olmedo nor Valier made the final cut after problems for both drivers in both finals left them 33rd and 34th respectively.
