A works drive and MSA Academy for Hawkins

Hawkins: “It's a really important year for me and it's the first time I've ever had factory backing, so I can't wait to get started.”
Super 1 driver Jessica Hawkins has been admitted into the MSA Academy for the 2012 season shortly after confirming a factory drive with Dino.

Hawkins joins fellow karters Ben Barnicoat, Matt Graham, Callan O'Keeffe and James Singleton on the Academy which has expanded thanks to support from the Racing Steps Foundation. The group will be coached throughout the year and it will have its first meeting at the Porsche Performance Centre at Silverstone next week.

“It's such an honour to be chosen for the MSA Academy," she said. "I'm really grateful to the MSA and I want to repay the faith they've shown in me.

“It can only be good for my race career and I'm really looking forward to learning more through the coaching programmes. It's a huge confidence booster to have had my talent recognised by such a prestigious organisation.”

Last November Hawkins also secured a factory drive with Dino with factory Maxter engine provided. The deal was a breakthrough since she had been racing on a limited budget. She will compete at ABkC O Plate races at PF International and Shenington before embarking on the Super One MSA KF3 Kart Championship. Hawkins also hopes to compete in the European CIK FIA KF3 series. In 2011 she won in Junior Rotax when she made her debut in BNL.

“I'm really looking forward to this season in KF3, it's great we've got a deal with PKP and hopefully we'll have a strong year together with some good results”, said Hawkins, “It's a really important year for me and it's the first time I've ever had factory backing, so I can't wait to get started.”
