Between the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the British Grand Prix, fans will get a chance to watch close racing and prominent names at the inaugural Henry Surtees Brooklands Team Challenge at Mercedes Benz World. The event is scheduled for Wednesday 4 July.
1992 F1 World Champion Nigel Mansell will be attending along with Andy Priaulx, Jaime Alguersuari, Darren Turner, Sam Bird, Jack Harvey, James Calado, Kevin Magnussen, Harry Ticknell and Riki Christodoulou. 30 spaces have been made available for teams for the 2 hour endurance race. Two teams have been reserved by Formula One Management's Bernie Ecclestone, who will also be attending the event.
As well as the drivers, there will be track demonstrations of the 1972 Surtees Hart TS10; the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG; the 1927 Delage 15-85 Grand Prix car and the 1933 Napier Railton Special. A special auction by Malcolm Barber of Bonhams will include items like a limited edition print by Nicolas Watts of John Surtees driving the Ferrari 158 during the 1964 German Grand Prix and VIP tickets for the British Grand Prix.
Motorsport broadcasters Steve Rider and Henry Hope Frost will host the prize giving ceremony. For a donation of £40, spectators can buy tickets to attend the prize giving ceremony and a champagne and canapé reception. As well as the Henry Surtees Foundation, the funds raised will go to the Brooklands Museum and the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust.
Media and Event Coordinator for the challenge Emma Buxton told Crash.net
: "The Buckmore Park event last year was indeed a little smaller. This will be the largest karting and corporate event that the Foundation has organised."
