Autosport Karting Challenge's tribute to Dan Wheldon

Johnny Herbert: "It's our first time running The Autosport International Karting Challenge so to have sold all team places a month before the event is fantastic."
The Autosport International Karting Challenge honouring Dan Wheldon has been fully booked. 20 teams have been confirmed with a reserve list in place.

The event will be managed by the Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge and by Race Drivers Inc. Herbert has been comfirmed to race and joining him will be the recently crowned FIA World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff; Allan McNish and David Brabham of sportscars; McLaren F1 test driver Oliver Turvey and Sky Sports F1's David Croft and Ted Kravitz. In each of the teams, the star names will be racing alongside five members of the public.

The race will be in endurance format and last for three hours on the Friday evening of the Autosport International Show. It will be held in Hall 4 of the Birmingham NEC and the funds raised from the race will go to the Alzheimer's Society, the charity nominated by the Wheldon family. The family has also donated one of Wheldon's trophies as a prize to be given to the winning team.

Johnny Herbert said: "It's our first time running The Autosport International Karting Challenge so to have sold all team places a month before the event is fantastic.

"We know how important Alzheimer's Society was to Dan and this event has grown with that firmly in mind with a great group of partners. The three-hour format has proved to be a real draw and we hope it offers more fundraising potential to benefit the charity.

"If you can't be at the event, please donate in Dan's memory by visiting www.alzheimers.org.uk.”
