Mini Max double for Mackay in Larkhall.

Scotsman Adam Mackay takes two 'home' victories in the Super One Mini Max series' annual trip north of the border to Larkhall.
Scotsman Adam Mackay scooped an emotionally charged double 'home' victory when the Super One Rotax Max Series visited Larkhall for the fifth round of the 2010 campaign.

Class rookie Mackay overcame an exclusion from timed qualifying that left him at the rear of the 42 strong field and put in two sensational performances in his heats, finishing fifth in his opening race around Larkhall's tight but fast 800-metre confines and then pulling off a sensational victory in his second heat despite starting 20th.

His two performances in the heats gave Mackay a third row grid slot for the first points scoring final but despite being up against a stellar field Mackay wouldn't be denied as he took the lead with less than three of the scheduled 23 laps remaining.

Harry Webb, Jack Aitken, Ryan Norris and championship leader George Russell rounded out the top five but with Mackay set to start the second final from pole position they all knew that, on such inspired form, the native Scot would be tough to beat on home turf.

And so it proved as Mackay led from start to finish completing the weekend double by nearly three seconds. Norris gave chase for most of the race and took second with Aitken coming out on top of a three kart tussle for third. Russell took fourth with Webb a disappointed fifth, Adam Glear sixth and Ginetta Junior driver Seb Morris seventh.

With two rounds of the championship remaining, last year's MSA Cadet Champion Russell is still on course to take his second title in as many years for although Aitken trimmed half a dozen points off his overall lead; he still holds a 22 point advantage over his nearest rival.

Despite two lowly final finishes Sam Ward still runs third overall but is now more than 40 points behind Russell while Mackay's heroics moves him into seventh place overall.
