Ferrucci takes Cadet honours at GYG.

Two new winners were crowned in the fifth round of the Super One Cadet Comer Championship as independent runner Philip Rawson and American driver Santino Ferrucci claimed the spoils.
American driver Santino Ferrucci made his own little piece of karting history by winning his first major final on British shores in the fifth round of the Super One Cadet Comer Championship at Glan Y Gors.

Connecticut based driver Ferrucci, who has been competing in the UK since mid-2009, has quickly established himself as a regular frontrunner with a glut of top five finishes so far this year both in Super One and the MSA British Championship but until Super One's visit to the undulating North Wales venue, victory had eluded him.

Ferrucci waited until the final Cadet race of the weekend to break his duck, working his way to the head of a six kart train and holding off a stiff challenge on the final lap from Philip Rawson, Jordan Gilbertson and Max Vaughan to take victory.

Rawson, who won the first final, took second on the last lap from Vaughan with Gilbertson also moving ahead of Vaughan to take third. Points leader Tom Harvey and Ross Gunn completed the lead train in fifth and sixth places respectively with Alfie Brown seventh and GP-Plate winner Connor Jupp eighth.

In the first final independent runner Rawson emerged in front after a chaotic last lap for his first Super One victory with Harvey second and Ferrucci, who went in to the final lap ahead, getting bundled back to third.

Vaughan remains Harvey's nearest title rival after finishing fifth in heat one and fourth in heat two although Harvey has extended his overall lead to 45 points before dropped scores are taken into account with just four point scoring races remaining.

Ferrucci, who missed a round earlier in the year, runs 13th overall but moves right into the thick of the title picture when dropped scores are taken into account.
