Barnicoat takes KF3 double at Glan Y Gors

Fresh from his victory in last weekend's MSA British Kartmasters Grand Prix Ben Barnicoat struck a double blow to his rivals with a clean sweep in the fifth round of the British Junior Karting Championship at Glan Y Gors.
Having won two finals in the Formula Kart Stars KF3 Championship at the North Wales venue earlier in the year Barnicoat was simply unstoppable in round five (of seven) of the Super One Series, dominating the entire weekend from start to finish as he moved to within 20 points of the series lead.

Only fifth fastest in qualifying Barnicoat won both heats, beating Callan O'Keeffe by nearly three seconds in the opening race and then snatching a dramatic win away from championship leader Jake Dennis on the final lap of heat two. That gave Barnicoat pole position for the first final, which he led from start to finish, mirroring that performance in the second race to give him a maximum 100-point haul from the weekend.

Dennis ran second the whole way in final one to finish one and a half seconds behind Barnicoat with Jake Dalton passing Matthew Graham in the closing moments to take third.

With Barnicoat running away at the front in the second final it was left to the two Jake's to provide the excitement as they squabbled over second place. After a flurry of position changes Dalton took the spot by half a second with O'Keefe and Daniel Vaughan rounding out the top five.

With two rounds (four finals) to go Barnicoat has reduced his points deficit to Dennis to just 18 points before dropped scores come into play with Dalton, Roy Johnson and Charlie Eastwood next in line.
