Mackay and Webb share Mini Max wins at Shenington.

George Russell's championship lead was whittled down in the latest round of the Super One Mini Max Championship at Shenington as Harry Webb and Adam Mackay shared the wins.
The penultimate round of the 2010 ABkC Super One Mini Max Championship took place at Shenington near Banbury and saw wins for Adam Mackay and Harry Webb as the points race tightened heading into the last round of the season.

On a weekend where track conditions went from dry to wet and back to dry again drivers and their teams had to be on guard at all times to react to the ever changing track conditions with Mackay proving once again to be the rain-master in the first final, completely obliterating the rest of the field to win the 19-lap race by nearly 14 seconds in highly treacherous conditions.

Seb Morris scored the best result of his season so far with a clear second place, well behind Scotland's Mackay, whose win was his third final victory in a row following his recent double victory at Larkhall but well ahead of third place finisher Rob Holland, who put in an electric performance from the rear of the 30-kart grid to pass Oliver Myers on the last lap.

Keiron Bowness and James Walkington, neither of whom feature in the top 20 in the points table, also revelled in the wet conditions to beat many far more illustrious names to finish fifth and sixth respectively.

Incredibly of the top five drivers in the championship coming into the weekend only Ryan Norris cracked the top ten in the first final and even then only in a distant ninth place nearly half a minute behind Mackay.

Championship leader George Russell started eighth and was one of a number of drivers caught up in some chaotic first lap scenes and finished 22nd with his nearest rival Jack Aitken going in the opposite direction, starting 18th and working his way up to 12th by the end.

The track had dried for the second final, a thrilling race that saw nearly half a dozen different leaders and resulted in Harry Webb coming from 14th on the grid to take his second win of the year by a shade over one second.

Mackay almost made it two clean sweeps from the last two rounds and led the first half of the race from Bowness but was shuffled back to fourth by Holland and Sam Ward before eventually fighting back to grab second from Ward two laps from home.

Bowness completed the most successful weekend of his season with third place, fighting passed Ward on the last lap to finish less than two seconds behind the victorious Webb.

Bobby Thompson rounded out the top five ahead of Joe Byrne, Myers and Morris as Holland fell back to 14th.

Russell endured another tough race from the eleventh row of grid and could do no better than 15th, his championship lead now down to just six points over Aitken with Webb, Ward and Norris now all within 30 points of the lead with just one round to go.
