Lola has unveiled an image of its proposed LMP1 prototype car following the announcement over the course of the Le Mans 24 Hours weekend of new regulations for the class in the future.
While the current LMP1 cars are open-top sports prototypes, the ACO has announced that LMP1 will be for closed cars only from 2010 onwards meaning the Le Mans line-up of the future will take a vastly different look – Lola becoming the first people to display their plans with the striking B10/10 model pictured.
“We have been evaluating the coupe version of our prototype for some time now and are confident that it will be a very interesting project for existing customers and potential customers,” communications manager Sam Smith said.
“We are spending more windtunnel time in the near future and pushing ahead with developments as we have already had a few enquiries relating to a closed top version of the existing LMP1.
“It is obvious that the ACO are aiming to attract more manufacturers to Le Mans in the future and we will be ready to offer a package that has been exhaustively tested and developed.”
