Having been left in limbo while final arrangements were put in place, teams aiming to contest the 2007 Le Mans Series can start making plans following the confirmation of a five-date schedule.
After opening with the now traditional pre-season group test at Paul Ricard, the series takes in the 'classic' venues of Nurburgring, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza and Silverstone, and retains a round in Spain, following the successful trip to Jarama in 2006.
Monza and Silverstone, absent from the 2006 calendar, return to book-end the season in April and September respectively, with Nurburgring and Spa running in July and August. The Spanish event, however, switches from Jarama to Valencia, and slots in between the trips to Italy and Germany. Intriguingly, the rounds at Spa and Monza will form double-header events with the World Series by Renault, which can now confirm its full schedule, having had to wait for the sportscar dates to be firmed up.
LMS officials have admitted that a sixth venue is being considered, which would take the series outside Europe, but are not releasing any details until closer to the end of the year.
The LMS calendar, as it stands, is as follows:
