JWA confirms strong Mil MIlhas line-up

James Watt Automotive has announced an all-star driver line-up for the final round of the 2007 Le Mans Series season in Brazil.

Porsche Supercup champion Richard Westbrook, former Australian GT champion Bryce Washington and Allan Simonsen – who helped Rob Bell secure the GT2 title this season – will join JWA regular Paul Daniels at the wheel of the Porsche 997 GT3 RSR for the Mil Milhas.

Joel Camathias and Dave Cox, who have driven the car this season, are both unable to compete, with Camathias aiming to go one step closer to the International GT Open series crown and Cox having coming to the end of his deal with the team.

“We are looking to move the team forward with professional drivers,” Daniels said. “This is our third season in the Le Mans Series and we are looking towards an entry in the Le Mans 24 Hours. That's not easy, but we're hoping to have our loyalty to the series rewarded. We've had fantastic support from Porsche - they've really helped us with technical support, development and helping us compete in the Le Mans Series, and our tyre suppliers Pirelli have also been very supportive.”

Simonsen and Washington will have to but their fight for the Australian GT title to one side for the event as they aim to help JWA end the season in style, while Westbrook – one of the leading drivers in the world in the lower spec 997 Cup car – will hope to shine after getting the unexpected chance to take part in the race.

“It's an exciting thing for me because the GT2 class is an option for me for next year,” he said. “I've known Paul Daniels for a while, but it wasn't until one of the JWA mechanics came to work with me for the last three rounds of the Supercup that I found out the team really want to give it a push for the last race in Brazil. It went from there and I'm looking forward to giving the team a good result.”
