G-Drive Oreca excluded from Le Mans

28 June 2013

The G-Drive Oreca-Nissan than took third in the Le Mans 24 Hours last weekend has been excluded from the results after failing post-race checks.

Mike Conway, John Martin and Roman Rusinov had completed the class podium behind the two OAK Racing Morgans, but checks after the race revealed that the fuel tank in the #26 car failed to comply with the regulations.

As a result, stewards have excluded the Delta-ADR-run car from the results of the race, which promotes the #42 Greaves Motorsport Zytek-Nissan into third spot in class.

That means a podium on his Le Mans debut for GT Academy graduate Jann Mardenborough, who impressed many with his performance on track alongside Michael Krumm and Lucas Ordonez.

The G-Drive team has already stated that it intends to appeal against the decision, which has also seen it lose points in the World Endurance Championship title race.

Le Mans was a double-scoring race for WEC teams, with the G-Drive squad having picked up 30 points in the LMP2 standings prior to its exclusion.
