Well, it was shown at technical scrutineering for the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours and they passed it, if they don't pass then they don't even get let out on the track. The ACO and FIA are unlikey to overturn the decision already made.

Typical Peugeot Sport behaviour... Shame on them!

And the PR bulls$$t reported in the article is even more pathetic: "let the racing begin". Come on, this protest should have been lodged months ago, not two days before the race. I hope this protest is dismissed and all 4 908 fail to make it to the finish line.

This issue has been boiling away since Porsche debuted its LMP2 car... it has similar aspects in its aero and the ACO THEN basically said it would be legal... apparently there is some grey area in the rules (not unlike the double decker diffuser rules in F1) which Audi has taken advantage of..

Though looking at the first practice times it seems all the ACO's rule changes made squat all difference... they'll still go faster than a 3:30 in qualifying and a diesel will still win... NONE of the racing series that have allowed diesels have got it right... so it doesn't really matter who is protesting who
