Tsk tsk, 4 years on and the pugs are still 3 seconds ahead of the audis?! Makes you wonder was audi complete domination of lemans for the past decade because they had a fast car or lack of serious competition from other manufacturer?

Go have a read about Porsche's canceled LMP program and you might have a slightly different view of the Audi domination of Le Mans, and also to why Porsche took such an affront when Audi criticized them for going into LMP2 instead of LMP1..

... and for the first time I agree with the ACO's decision to slow the LMP's down... just don't agree with how they are going to do it... its only the DIESEL cars (in particular the Pugs) that need to be brought back to the pack... they are the ones 10 seconds faster than the ACO's target time of 3:30 average

That's some impressive pace from the Peugeots - and I don't think Audi expected to be as slow. Come the race, they will be far more competitive, but may need rain to challenge.
Agree with an earlier post - Audi's recent domination was down to a fast car and no competition - meaning relatively 'easy' wins, if there are such things at Le Mans.
It's just history repeating itself - rewind to 25 years when Peugeot ended Audi's WRC dominance.

Absolutely amazing that the French run body singularly refuse to penalise the Diesel cars when many other private and semi company organisations wish to enter the LMP1 category with conventional petrol cars but that is the French all over.

Last year at a meeting between the many entrants and potential entrants my son was tasked with producing a performance comparison between the Diesels and Petrol cars which the organisers chose to ignore, He works for AMR and has an intricate knowledge of the whole issue so it is obvious that with the PUGS the French nor have dominance over its most prestigous race and intend to keep it. It is only the fact that everyone wants to race at Le Mans????

Sorry I run out of space in my earlier comment but it is the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) who will not adjust anything that stops the PUGS winning. I reckon we should ban all Frenchmen from Wimbledon as a protest or tie their legts together. :p :p :p

It looks like there should be some serious levelling of the playing field here. The Diesel cars are in a class of their own, so why not put them actually into a class of their own?

BTCC can get FWD, RWD, Bio-fuel, petrol, NGTC turbo cars, old BTC and S2000 spec cars all within half a second of each other, then surely somthing similiar can be done with Lemans. :?
