The Krohn Racing with White Lightning team has taken the next step towards race day at Le Mans after the #90 Porsche underwent scrutineering and technical checks ahead of the famous race.
Unlike usual races, scrutineering is a very public affair, with the cars transported to the town centre and crowds gathering to watch as the car and team progress through the various stages.
Long after the car had been taken away drivers Tracy Krohn, Jörg Bergmeister and Nic Jönsson were signing programmes and shaking the hands of well-wishers – with Krohn admitting it was like nothing he had seen before.
“It's amazing,” he said. “I've never seen anything like this – and it's so early in the week! I can't wait for the drivers' parade which Jörg has told me is really packed. The excitement is beginning to build now with all the finishing touches being carried out around the track. It's events like scrutineering in the typical French square at the foot of the cathedral that make me realise why it's such a unique event.
“I've got to see more of the track too – I went round on a scooter with Jörg. He really knows the track well and to go through it corner-by-corner with someone who knows what they're doing was a big help. It just makes me even more anxious to get underway and start practicing tomorrow.”
