ACO names Asian Le Mans entry

The ACO has announced an entry list of more than 30 cars has currently been put in place for the first two races in the Asian Le Mans Series later this year.

The series will see four races of three hours over two race weekends – the first during the Okayama WTCC meeting at the end of October and the second at Shanghai the following week.

Winners in each of the four classes will secure an automatic entry into the Le Mans 24 Hours for the 2010 season, with an impressive looking entry having been put together as a result.

In LMP1, the Peugeot 908 HDi entered by SORA Racing-Pescarolo Sport is likely to be the most fancied runner, but will face stiff competition from within thanks to a pair of SORA Racing entered Pescarolo-Judds, while a two-car entry from Team Oreca is also likely to challenge. Speedy Racing Team Sebah will make the trip with one of its Lola Aston Martins, while Signature Plus and the Tokai University team complete the premier class.

In LMP2, OAK Racing, KSM and Speedy Racing Team Sebah will all make the trip from the Le Mans Series but will face stiff competition from the Japanese Navi Goh outfit with its Porsche RS Spyder.

GT1 sees two teams from Europe going up against Asian opposition. Jack Leconte's Larbre Competition team will run its Saleen S7R in the two events while the Luc Alphand Aventures team will run a single Corvette C6.R. Competition will come in the shape of the JLOC Lamborghini while Team Nova will run an Aston Martin DBR9.

GT2 sees no fewer than twelve teams, and features the only outfit from the American Le Mans Series to have so far confirmed its entry.

Robertson Racing's Ford GT will go up against a raft of European challengers as Drayson Racing, Felbermayr-Proton, Farnbacher Racing, IMSA Performance MATMUT and AF Corse, while home grown entrants arrive in the shape of Japanese GT300 entrants Team Daishin and Hankook KTR. The China Race team will also contest the event.

Completing the field will be the top two teams from the inaugural Formula Le Mans Cup campaign, which has kicked off this weekend at Spa during the latest round of the Le Mans Series.
