Jetalliance battles problems at Spa

Despite a far from trouble-free outing at Spa, Jetalliance was able to celebrate a case of 'mission accomplished' as it continued planning for the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The team had qualified in pole position amongst the GT1 runners with its Aston Martin DBR9, with team boss Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer joined at the wheel by Alex Muller and Thomas Gruber.

The race itself proved to be a challenging one for the Austrian team, with time being lost in the pits after the engine electronics needed changing and Gruber then spinning off into the gravel – losing more time as the car was recovered to the circuit and returned to the pits.

However, the DBR9 was still running at the finish in third in class, and Lichtner-Hoyer admitted he was happy with the result considering the problems that had been faced.

“Virtually everything that could go wrong did go wrong this weekend,” he said. “That's why we're even more pleased with this result.”
