Aston Martin reveals Le Mans line-up

Sam Hancock and Juan Barazi added to the Aston Martin Racing line-up for the Le Mans 24 Hours
Aston Martin Racing has revealed its line-up for the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours, featuring two newcomers alongside four established Aston Martin men.

Adrian Fernandez, Stefan Mucke and Harold Primat will share driving duties in the #007 Lola-Aston Martin, while Darren Turner will be joined by newcomers Sam Hancock and Juan Barazi in the #009 car.

The new-look line up will be looking to try and at least match the result gained last season against the factory diesels from Peugeot and Audi, where Aston Martin led the petrol-powered brigade in fourth place overall.

“We have another strong driver line-up for this year's race,” team principal George Howard-Chappell said. “The works team have been gelling well and has gained some valuable experience with the car this season. We also have Darren who has competed in every Le Mans with Aston Martin Racing since it was formed and will feel completely at home in the car at this circuit. Complementing our existing team, I am pleased to welcome Juan and Sam who between them bring a wealth of experience.”

While Fernandez, Mucke and Primat have driven the LMP1 car already this season, Turner has been focused on GT1 and GT2 programmes with Young Driver AMR in the GT1 World Championship and JMW Motorsport in the Le Mans Series.

Barazi meanwhile makes the move to Aston Martin having raced at La Sathe for his own Barazi-Epsilon team while Hancock returns to Le Mans for the first time since 2006 after spending recent seasons competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and the SPEED and VdeV series'.

“It is incredible to be driving for the Aston Martin team,” he said. “To be a British driver representing what is arguably one of the coolest brands in the world and at possibly the greatest race of the annual calendar, is a real honour and privilege.

“I am happy to have this opportunity to work with such a world-class skilled team which for any professional driver is a great prospect.”
