The #3 Peugeot 908 is out of the Le Mans 24 Hours after a suspension issue in the third hour.

The car had qualified on pole in the hands of Sebastien Bourdais with Pedro Lamy having taken the start of the race.

The Portuguese driver was sitting second behind team-mate Franck Montagny when the car suddenly starting smoking from the front-right with an apparent puncture, although the speed of the car suggested otherwise.

Having made it back to the pits, the car was pushed back into the garage where it was discovered that the suspension had been damaged.

Team boss Olivier Quesnel has confirmed that the damage can't be repaired and the car now sits covered up in the garage as the first big name retirement from the race.

The #2 Peugeot now leads from the #1 car, with Stephane Sarrazin less than ten seconds ahead of Anthony Davidson after 42 laps. The Oreca Peugeot is less than 20 seconds further back in third.
