Adam secures Aston Martin role

Jonny Adam secures a deal to join the roster of Aston Martin Racing factory drivers
Scottish racer Jonny Adam has agreed a deal that will see him become part of the works Aston Martin Racing team.

Adam, who races for the Beechdean AMR team in both British GT and the Blancpain Endurance Series, will named as a reserve driver for the factory Aston Martin team earlier in the year but has now reached a deal that will see him take part in the official Le Mans test day at the Circuit de la Sarthe next month.

News of the deal comes after Adam was invited to test the GTE-spec Aston Martin Vantage during a recent test session at Snetterton, with team boss John Gaw saying he was delighted to have the 28-year-old onboard.

“Jonny has impressed over the past few years of racing with Beechdean AMR and as a result recently tested with the factory team in the GTE car,” he said. “His approach, attitude and consistency is as we expect from a factory driver and this latest agreement further cements the relationship between Aston Martin Racing, Jonny and Beechdean.

“We look forward to seeing him debut in the works Vantage GTE at the Le Mans test day in June.”

Adam, who had previously raced in the Renault Clio Cup, SEAT Cupra UK series and the British Touring Car Championship prior to making he switch to GT competition, was understandably thrilled to secure a factory role.

“I'm delighted with this opportunity to join Aston Martin Racing as a works driver,” he said. “A dream really has come true for me. To be involved with a team in the chase for an FIA world championship is something very special - even more so that it is in Aston Martin's centenary year.

“I look forward to continuing my racing programmes in both British GT and Blancpain Endurance Series with Andrew Howard and Beechdean AMR and hope that 2013 is a successful year for Aston Martin.”

Adam will continue to partner team boss Andrew Howard in the Beechdean AMR programme where his commitments to Aston Martin Racing allow.
