Less than ten seconds separate the top three in the LM GTE Pro class after a remarkable 11 hours of racing in the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours, with Aston Martin resisting the attentions of Corvette and Ferrari.
With Stefan Mucke handing the sole GT Pro Vantage V8 over to Bruno Senna, the Brazilian emerged just in front of the AF Corse Ferrari of Toni Vilander and Tom Milner in the Corvette C7R.
However, when Vilander attempted to take the lead from Senna, his loss of momentum would allow Milner into second place, the American placing the former F1 driver under pressure ever since, even if he couldn't find a way through before losing time when both pitted towards the end of the hour.
Out front, Alex Wurz remains in the #7 Toyota and continues to lap very consistently in the lead, more than two and a half minutes ahead of the #2 Audi, while the #3 Audi is close to going a lap down too.
Porsche remains fourth and fifth, while the #8 Toyota – having gotten itself back up to sixth place – suffered another unscheduled stop as it battles balance issues, a legacy of its crash earlier in the race.
The #35 OAK Ligier continues to lead the LMP2 class, 1min 25secs up on the Signatech Alpine, while the Race Performance Oreca is in third place.
