Audi moved in to both first and second place during the 16th hour of the Le Mans 24 Hours but hit trouble with its lead car.
With Benoit Treluyer having taken advantage of misfortune for the #7 Toyota to inherit the lead, Treluyer was left with a comfortable cushion in the #2 Audi. Michael Fassler took over the car and continued to extend the lead, while Mark Webber was limited to third place as he couldn't make progress against Marc Gene in front of him.
Gene opened up a 35s lead over Webber, with Anthony Davison in fourth, 11 laps adrift and not a threat to the podium positions at this stage. However, right at the end of the hour Audi rolled the lead #2 car in to the garage and set to work to try and fix a turbo issue, which dropped it closer to the 2nd Audi.
Having once rolled the #2 car back out in to the pit lane following a turbo change, Audi had to then wheel it in to the garage again as the car wouldn't start, with a three lap lead being wiped out quickly.
The lead LMP2 car remains the #35 Oak Racing Ligier with Alex Brundle at the wheel and putting a lap between himself and the rest of the class.
